I was greatly inspired by the ancient Roman god Janus during the creation of this painting. I remember reading about him in my studies of mythology, and he always evoked a sense of thoughtfullness and contemplation within me. Janus has two faces: one looking to the past, and one looking to the future. He is the god of transitions, journeys, and change, and I think this important.
